Outrageous Searches
I was rammaging through Google Analytics to see what search terms came up to land on the website. I cannot help but notice “flying off” + “banana boat” on the list. Unsurprisingly, the visitor left the website pronto (stayed for a big fat ZERO seconds), feeling disappointed, I presume, since there wasn’t anything remotely close on the webpage to what he or she was...

Human Relationships
livetheroad: I stumbled across “Small Change” by Malcolm Gladwell on The New Yorker’s website. In light of my experiences here in London with the student protests in November and December, this article was very interesting. Gladwell posits that Twitter and Facebook do not build the “strong-tie” relationships necessary for people to engage in high-risk activism. Read More This reminds me of...

Sleepless
Can’t sleep. It wasn’t even close to 40 winks. I reckon it’s only - what - 8? And I have to go to work now. It’s going to be a long long day.

Reduce, Reuse (Tape)
I couldn’t find any sticky tape to paste a cut-out into a scrap book. What did I use instead? Left over surgical tapes. It works like a charm. Do I get a point for saving the environment, albeit in a little bizarre manner? You know…reduce, reuse (this is certainly not the recycling bit).

Of Jumping out of bed and Packing
Like an eager child on a cold Christmas morning, I jumped out of bed and eagerly ran to see what Santa has got me. I’ve been a good boy this year. eagerly held my iPad to check my email. The news was sent while I was asleep - I couldn’t stay awake till 4am (maybe I should have drank more at the party last night and slept earlier). I got the email. It’s good news! Now I’m...

Earthwatch - Borneo Rainforest
OK guys, this is it. Fact is, I have been busy as a bee, bumbling and buzzing around for stuff I need to survive prepare for this volunteer expedition that I would be going with Earthwatch in a few days time. I will be spending 9 days studying the effect of climate change on Borneo’s rainforests. I’m hoping to learn how sustainable issues are being handled on-the-ground by putting...

“She got exquisitely destroyed.”

Eat. Pray. Love.
I wonder what the three words would be if it is a movie about a guy instead. Not pretty words I suppose. What do you think?

Keep it harsh-harsh on the train
“…moving forward, I’d like to set some house rules. Visitors are not allowed in the house, including your brother. Also, remove your shoes when you are in the house. Thanks. If you think I am too restrictive…” She fumbled with her text message on the train for over 20 minutes. By the time I had to alight at my stop, she continued to ponder what to type next just to...

Duck Test. Dodgy Test.
I learned something today - my version of the Duck Test. I was supposed to meet someone who claims to be a professional at getting some fancy computer programming done. Alas, the place was a dump and I had some reservations about going into the building. I thought I might bump into a random creepy guy in a creepy office. It turned out to be true. I say, if it looks dodgy, feels dodgy, and...

(No) Life to the Max
I received an email which I usually would not want to open. It’s something about National Service. This time’s different. Anyone else saw the irony in its slogan?

Modem was kaputt!
Yes guys, my modem was fried yesterday for some strange reason. It had the courtesy to go off just before I hit the sack. I didn’t realise that it is going for good until the next day. I had the maintenance guy come in to fix it first thing in the morning. A weekend without the internet would be a disaster in the making!

Of Running and Hazy Days
Hazy days in Singapore. It is days like this that makes you pat yourself in the back for taking up a gym membership. Ran a few Ks in a relatively clean environment. I’m happy about that. I did spot some hardcore runners along the roads though. They somehow remind me of vacuum cleaners on a move, cleaning the atmosphere one bit at a time.

Try again
A few days ago, I tried a new thing and I fell flat on the face. No matter. I picked myself up and tried again, a little more cautiously and a little more prepared this time. I found reward. Yes, I tried my hand at studying and trading margins online with whatever spare time I have at night and I think I’m getting the hang of it. It’s another of those things in life that tell me...
